The RDS provides free design and methodological support to health and social care researchers who are developing applications to national peer-reviewed funding organisations.  The focus of the service is to improve the quality of research proposals, and to increase their chance of success. The RDS is a key component of the strategy to make the NHS research intensive and is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Support is available to all researchers irrespective of their experience and success in research.  The service can help to identify suitable sources of funding for projects and can facilitate the development of collaborations across the region.

RDS NE will, within available resources, offer successful applicants for NIHR funding continuing advice should they meet difficulties during their projects.

The RDS NE is a collaborative service, led by Newcastle University, in partnership with Durham University and South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.  Although the team is geographically divided, services are accessed through one single point of contact, our services can be accessed by: email: rds.ne@nihr.ac.uk & telephone (0191) 334 0826.
