Public Involvement Funds
It is considered good practice to involve members of the public as early as possible in the research design process. Funding public involvement at the grant application stage can be challenging. The RDS ‘Public Involvement Funds’ aim to bridge that gap. Funds are available to researchers to help facilitate public involvement in the development of research ideas and research grant applications.
Who can apply for the funds?
The criteria for applying for Public Involvement funds are:
- Researchers must be working with RDS NE Advisers to prepare research proposals for submission to funding bodies
- Applicants must clearly show that funding for Public Involvement activities is not available via other funding streams.
How can these funds be used?
The awards can be used to fund the involvement of members of the public (e.g. patients, carers or service users) in research design or developing research ideas.
